A$AP Rocky: Rocky Road (December 2012 Cover Story)
It’s been a little over a year since Complex published a piece entitled "Who is A$AP Rocky?" That was back on Halloween 2011, the same day Rocky dropped his first mixtape,Live.Love.A$AP,and had the industry buzzing with speculation that the A$AP Mob had landed a $3 million record deal with RCA/Polo Grounds. Since then Dat PMF has toured and recorded with Drake, appeared on the cover of Complex alongside designer Jeremy Scott, and was recently announced as the opening act for Rihanna’s “Unapologetic” tour. Safe to say nobody has to ask “Who is A$AP Rocky?” anymore.
Since we’ve been rocking with Rocky since day one, it seemed only right to celebrate the impending arrival of his highly anticipated debut album, Long.Live.A$AP, with his first solo Complex cover. His swag is that impressive, his style that influential, his sound that urgent. Photographer Glynis Selina Arban captured the young MC in medieval monarch mode, and Complex director of content strategy Joe La Puma went on tour with Rocky and the A$AP Mob, rolling from state to state and chopping up game about the importance of loyalty on the road to rap royalty.
